I decided to add a page to honor any of the other schoolhouses we run across.  Some are still standing, some just a memory and a sign.  Occasionally I will add posts to this page as we make new discoveries.  I’ll refer to the book “I Heard the School Bells Ringing”, which was compiled by Gloria Larsen in 1999 and published by the Polk County HCE, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin.

Rock Creek School

1877 – 1912

Rock Creek School

The Rock Creek school was located just a few miles north of St. Croix Falls.  The memorial sign holds it’s place on a corner of an always well manicured field.  An interesting fact found in the book was that in 1912 there were so many children from the Sunshine Avenue area, so the school was hitched to horses and moved it across the section to a new site.

Oak Hill School (aka Henning)

Oak Hill School

This school had an identity crisis and had several names over it’s lifetime.  It is a beautiful building not far from Luck and is owned by a family.
